Information for Customers
John Saul Ltd has grown this crop for many years, were instrumental in its development and was the first farm in the UK to build a Controlled Atmosphere store to prolong availability.
Early varieties are sown in peat module blocks in October, overwintered in our glasshouse and planted the following March under polythene and are mature and ready for harvest in July.
Storage varieties are sown and planted in the spring and harvested October – December before the winter frosts. The skill of the labour involved in this particular harvest has to be seen to be believed.
This crop is grown on contract for the manufacture of coleslaw and we provide a 12 month continuity of supply and store up to 8,000 tonnes.
We have a purpose built preparation facility housing our modern trimming and peeling production lines.
